Hasegawa's 1/48 scale A6M2 Zero Type 21 is available online from Squadron

Introduction

This is my build of Hasegawa's beautiful 1/48 scale A6M2b Type 21. It was built for an upcoming Osprey title.

The cockpit is from CMK with some extra plumbing added from lead fishing line and copper wire.

The wing folds and horizontal tail are from Verlinden, ailerons from Cutting Edge and flaps are a combination of some scratch-building and some photo-etched parts from Verlinden.

The cowl flaps were scratch built.

The biggest challenge in this build was getting the color right. I got some great help from Greg Springer of J-aircraft.com fame on enamel paint mixes for the gray-green surface color, as well as the fabic control surface color.

All other colors were White Ensign Japanese Naval air colors.
