Description

I spent yesterday in Australia's national capital, Canberra, at the ACT Scale Modellers' Society Annual Competition 2004.

The two-day competition was open to local club members, visitors from other clubs and the general public, including junior modellers. There was an impressive roll call of models of a wide range of subjects - planes, military vehicles, cars, trucks, figures, dioramas and more - built to a very high standard, including some very imaginative entries.

More than 230 models were entered for the competition.

A busy vendors' room was also well attended, and included a large buy, swap and sell table.

Being located between Sydney and Melbourne, Canberra offers a good opportunity for for modellers from both of those cities to travel to this show. I was pleased to catch up with friends from Melbourne and rural NSW, in addition to the Canberra locals.

The three hour drive from Sydney was well worthwhile!

Keep an eye out over the coming weeks for Galleries and Features of some of the models that were entered in the ACTSMS Annual Competition 2004.

Thanks to ACTSMS for their hospitality on the day.
