F6F-3 Hellcat

Here is my 1/48 scale F6F-3 Hellcat from Hasegawa (Kit no. JT 120) built almost straight from the box.

The only addition was they AIRES resin cockpit set (No.4010).

I painted the model in the standard US Navy 3-tone camouflage of: white (Humbrol 130), intermediate blue (Humbrol 144) and sea blue (Humbrol 134).

I used kit's decal to depict the famous "Cat Mouth" temporary nose art of VF-27.

This unit operated from board of USS Princeton (CVL-23) over Saipan during the Battle of the Mariana Islands (Marianas Turkey Shoot, June, 1944).
