These photos of the 1/48 scale Classic Airframes Grumman J2F “Duck” are from a kit I built several years ago when CA was still producing these kits. This kit is built box stock except for the engine. The kit engine was a little too rough for me so I molded a replacement using the engine from the Accurate Miniatures Grumman F3F-2. Although it is covered up with a cowling, it still made a big difference in the general appearance up close.

Typical of the earlier Classic Airframes kits it was a challenge but makes into a beautiful model when finished.
