Trumpeter's 1/32 scale MiG-3
"Engine Startup"

by Roland Sachsenhofer

Trumpeter's 1/32 scale MiG-3 is available online from Squadron.com

Description

Soon after beginning to build the 1/32 scale Trumpeter kit of that attractive aircraft the idea shaped up of giving an interpretation of this craft standing on the tarmac, the nose pointing typically high into the air: This point of view gives in my opinion the best resemblance of the sleek and dynamic lines of the Mig-3.

Starting with this idea -and working with my favourite picture publishing application to mix pictures of the model and those of my local airport- I ended with a picture depicting the moment when the mighty AM-35A (of a, who knows, recently restored Mig- 3 :o) bursts into life.

The kit is built (and that was quite a pleasure!) out of the box with the exception of flattened tires, break lines made from copper wire, Eduard seat belts and injection needles as machinegun muzzles. The pictured aircraft resembles a well documented machine that served with the 122 IAP in Vnukovo in February 1942.
