Description

This 1/12 scale bust of Baron Manfred Von Richthofen was included in the 1/48 scale Dragon Fokker DR1 Triplane Kit issued about 15 years ago.

The bust was completed using Xtra color enamels for the clothing and tones, while Winsor and Newton oil paints were used for the flesh and hair tones.

Various references were used for the colours. The main one being a photo in a book called Manfred Von Richthofen. The hardest reference to find was for the shoulder epaulettes containing his rank. Particular attention was paid to the piping around the edge which is in blue and white twisted piping. Very few photographs exist of him in this uniform, the main ones being of when he was hospitalised with a head wound and is photographed on the front steps of the hospital with members of his Jasta.
