Tamiya's 1/48 scale
Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I

by Jean Gratton

Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Ia

Tamiya's 1/48 scale Spitfire Mk.I is available online from Squadron

A good friend of mine told me once you can never have too many Spitfires. You know what? I think he’s right! As I looked at my display case one night some thing was missing. It suddenly dawned on me that I didn’t have a single Spitfire in my collection. Built, that is!

So out came the Tamiya 1/48 scale Mk.I.

I decided to build that one out of the box as I was coming out of an extensive project. What better kit to unwind with, what can I say “It’s Tamiya”. Set the brain to off and enjoy.

Now I’m not going to bore you with construction details other than to say that it’s fully out of the box including the decals. The seatbelts are homemade from lead foil painted with artist oils.

There you go. I just hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed building the kit.
