Blackburn Swordfish Mk.II

by Stu Hurley

Blackburn Swordfish Mk.II
 HS 164, 810 Squadron, East Africa 1942

Tamiya's 1/48 scale Swordfish is available online from Squadron.com

Introduction

This is Tamiya's 1/48 scale Swordfish, converted to a Mk II with the addition of ASV radar and large oil cooler.

All the additions were scratchbuilt.

The control surfaces were cut out and re-positioned and the slats were modified to show them open.

Additional detail was applied to the cockpits and engine.

The Tamiya etched rigging was disgarded in favour of fishing line of varying thicknesses.

The bomb racks were detailed with the addition of MDC sway braces.

Xtradecals and Humbrol enamels were employed to finish the model.
